Arsenal boss Unai Emery makes Liverpool admission and opens up on Gunners’ dressing room

Arsenal take on Liverpool with both sides looking to add to their perfect starts to the Premier League season.

The Gunners have seen off both Newcastle and Burnley, with Klopp’s men beating both Norwich and Southampton.

Emery has now given his take on the upcoming clash, and revealed why Arsenal supporters should be excited about the test.

Emery joked: “For us, we don’t ever want to play against Liverpool – but it’s really a challenge, a good test.

“Really our target is to reduce the distance [between us] and Manchester City and Liverpool last season, and when we go to play against them it’s a big moment to show how [much stronger] we can be.”

Liverpool and City are strong favourites to finish inside the top two as the rest of the top six battle it out for Champions League qualification.

Emery has now urged his players to perform to the best of their ability at Anfield, and admits that he will need them all to be in fine form.

He added: “Last week you asked me if we are better now than last year – I don’t know.

“It’s the same if you ask if we are going to be stronger with those three players up front.

“We need all the players to show how we are going to make a big difference to last year with the points.

“But I really think we have the spirit in the dressing room and I am very happy because I am seeing the team involved in this process now.

“We are going there [to Anfield] with six points from two games.

“Next week is a very good match for every supporter of Arsenal.”

Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may have scored the goals in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Sean Dyche’s Burnley, but it was debutant Dani Ceballos who stole the headlines.

The 23-year-old loanee set up both goals before describing the experience as a “special” event.

He told Arsenal’s official website: The truth is that for me it has been one of the most special days of my life.”

The other full-back spot has been occupied by Bukayo Saka recently but the youngster could be given some time to catch his breath with the fit-again Sead Kolasinac gaining some minutes.

In goal, Bernd Leno has been immovable this season and will retain his berth.

In the treatment room, Calum Chambers is out for the season but the three other injury concerns are nearing returns.

Cedric Soares will be back in contention before the end of the month as should Kieran Tierney, while Reiss Nelson is available for selection.
