Arsenal Need To Hand Their Former Player And Legend A Role Even If There Isn’t One

Published

on

Marc Overmars has been given hefty praise for his part in the emergence of Ajax and it’s group of talented youngsters. However, the one man who’s name is missing from this mountainous praise fest is Dennis Bergkamp, who was personally and directly involved with the youngsters transition to the first team.

It’s no secret that because of their league form and performances in the Champions league semi final against Spurs, Ajax players have been linked as possible transfer targets for some of Europe’s top sides. Ajax won the Eredivisie in a hard fought campaign, which saw them keep PSV Eindhoven in second place.

More importantly, they played with style, flair and desire, mirroring the Ajax of years gone by, with an average age of 24, which is mightily impressive.

Bergkamp was taken under the wing of Ajax legend, Johan Cruyff and the former Arsenal striker has taken a similar role within the club.

However, the non flying Dutchman fell out with Overmars in 2017 and this led to his sudden departure from the club. The news that Bergkamp is now ready to resume his career in football, should have Arsenal queuing up for his services in any capacity.

Bergkamp would make a fantastic youth coach in the Arsenal academy or if we are still looking for a technical director, why worry about Edu. Bergkamp should come home where he belongs.

Now, before you start talking to me about experience, out of all the candidates, only Monchi had been in the same role for a credible amount of time and with someone like Bergkamp, it’s as much about who he is as what he knows.

What player in the world wouldn’t want to be in the presence of the Dutchman on a training pitch and take tuition from one of the most talented players of his generation.

To be honest, I never liked the idea of Overmars or Monchi in the role and the thought of Edu taking charge is distinctly underwhelming.  If they haven’t got the Brazilian to agree terms already, then I’d stop calling and begin blitzing Bergkamp’s Email on a daily basis.

The striker will not remain unemployed for long and although, Overmars has obviously been a factor in the development of the Ajax youngsters, is more inspirational than Bergkamp.

I once spoke to him on SM about the chances of coming back to Arsenal and asked him ‘if you had the chance to manage Arsenal, would you consider it ?’

‘At the drop of a hat’ was his reply.

Ok, so that role is already taken but, Arsenal need his talents in the club, somewhere, anywhere. If they can let Steve Bould earn a living by coaching the worst defence in Arsenal’s recent history, then they should snatch up Bergkamp.

Too many talents have been allowed to leave and have taken their experience and knowledge with them.

My message to Arsenal: Pay him what he wants and bring him home.

Tottenham fans troll Arsenal supporters after Harry Kane wonder goal against Juventus

Published

Tottenham and Juve were playing in the International Champions Cup and with the score level at 2-2, it was Kane who produced the heroics against the Polish international.

With seconds ticking down on the clock, Harry Kane, who was plotted nicely in the middle of the pitch, latched on to a quick pass played by team-mate Lucas Moura.

Before taking a first touch, Kane took aim with an audacious effort from 55 yards and saw his shot sail over a helpless Szczesny.

The former Arsenal keeper spent eight years in north London and quickly became a prime pantomime villain in the club’s heated rivalry with Spurs.

But after his howler against Spurs earlier today, Tottenham supporters took the time to let their feelings about Szczesny be known.

One wrote: “IT’S HAPPENED AGAIN, IT’S HAPPENED AGAIN, WOJCIECH SZCZESNY, IT’S HAPPENED AGAIN.”

Another said: “How many times did you get embarrassed in front of your goal today, Szczesny?”

A third went with: “No better keeper to do it to either than that mug Szczęsny!!!”

One tweeted: “HARRY KANE from the halfway line!!!! COYS …. Szczesny hahaha.”

Another couldn’t believe what he was watching, and wrote: “What an incredible half way line goal by Harry Kane! Szczesny caught sleeping.”

Another Spurs fan said: “Harry Kane lobs a goal over that w****r Szczesny from the halfway line in the 90th minute.”

One couldn’t contain his happiness, tweeting: “I’m so happy Szczesny has been mugged off like that #THFC #COYS.”

Someone else joked: “Kane completely pulled Szczęsny’s pants down with that goal. Took the p**s. Virtually on the half way line.”

Another gag followed, with this Spurs fan tweeting: “Retweet to spread the awareness for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane ending former Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny’s career from the half-way line.”

And one other said: “Harrrryyyyy from the half way line!!!!!! Take a selfie of that Szczesny #COYS.”

Laurent Koscielny reprehensible behaviour has done Arsenal a massive favour

Published

Laurent Koscielny going on strike has done Arsenal a massive favour and forced the club to change its plans.

It really does appear that Unai Emery and the board had no intentions of bringing in a central defender. not going by the credible transfer reports we have been receiving.

It is fairly accepted that Dani Ceballos, Kieran Tierney, William Saliba, Everton Soares and Wilfried Zaha are the players the club are targeting.

Of those, only one is a central defender and he will not be available for a year.

Anyone watching the Arsenal mini-tour to the USA cannot fail to notice that the defence is still a shambles and that a central defender has to be the priority and it beggars belief that Arsenal has not clicked on to that.

Koscielny effectively going on strike leaves a huge gap at the back, he may not have played every game but he would have been significant throughout the season and he does need replacing.

If the club does not sign a central defender and goes with what we got then the consequences will be harsh and the fans will not forget, it would be negligence of the highest order.

Basically, the way I see it, if Koscielny would have stayed for another season the chances are no new central defender would have been brought in, that simply cannot be the case now.

So, in effect, the 33-year-old has done the club a massive favour even if they have not realised it yet.
