Fantasy Premier League tips: Who should I captain in FPL GW2 – Salah, Aubameyang or Mane?

Published

on

Mohamed Salah, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane owners all reaped the rewards last weekend with goals, assists and bonus points galore.

Fixtures look slightly trickier this week with Manchester City facing Tottenham while Liverpool travel to Southampton for their first away game of the season.

Captain pick will be crucial with points potentially at a premium for the big names.

And Express Sport has picked some stars who you should consider handing the armband to.

Fantasy Premier League captains – GW2

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) vs Burnley (H)

Aubameyang got his tally up and running scoring the only goal of the game as Arsenal beat Newcastle last weekend.

A home tie against Burnley should provide more opportunities for the Gabonese striker to rack up those points.

Raheem Sterling (Man City) vs Tottenham (H)

It may be wise to steer clear of this match, but if you’re desperate, Sterling has to be the way to go.

A hat-trick on the opening weekend against West Ham, he’s likely to be a main threat again.

Anthony Martial (Man Utd) vs Wolves (A)

Martial has already seen his price rise by £0.1m this season after a goal in United’s opening win over Chelsea.

The Frenchman played through the middle in that game and could be a key threat against Wolves.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) vs Southampton (A)

Salah should always be an option to give the armband to, especially after a fine first performance of the season.

The Egyptian managed a goal and assist against Norwich last weekend, while also picking up two bonus points.

Teemu Pukki (Norwich) vs Newcastle (H)

A rogue call perhaps, but Pukki scored against Liverpool last weekend and could have more joy against Newcastle.

A cheap choice at just £6.5million, bringing the Finn in could free up some vital cash for later in the season.

TOP CHOICE: Sadio Mane (Liverpool) vs Southampton (A)

Sadio Mane was on the bench for the win over Norwich but repaid Jurgen Klopp’s faith as he scored twice having started the UEFA Super Cup win over Chelsea.

Facing his former team this weekend, Klopp is likely to give him another start.

Classified as a midfielder, Mane regularly earns double figure points so give him the armband if you can.

Chelsea fans want Kylian Mbappe

Chelsea fans are desperate for Kylian Mbappe to join the club after their transfer ban was lifted.

One said: “He aint joining liverpool he’s joining chelsea if anything good luck signing mbappe tho”.

Another added: “Welcome Mbappe to Chelsea”.

“If we can we should go all out for mbappe, let Chelsea ruin football again, common it’s time to unleash.” a third explained.

A fourth said: “We have lost Hazard, who is a top 3 player in the world RN. so we must look for at least a top 5 player to replace him.

“When I say we must sign at least one out of Dybala and Mbappe most Chelsea fans reply to me that it’s just a dream and they will join Real Madrid.”

And another is convinced it is happening, exclaiming: “Chelsea is going after Mbappe. You heard it here first.”

Liverpool ace James Milner on Leeds return

Liverpool ace James Milner would love to return to Leeds before his career ends but has had no contact from the Championship club at the moment.

He told The Sportsman: “Well yes, but I am a Leeds lad and I want the team to do well, I’m a fan.

“I always follow the team and the results. So you can never say No or even Yes because just so much changes in football, you never know what happens.

“At the moment I’m a Champions League winner with Liverpool and this year we’re really going for the Premier League, but I don’t know what the future will hold.

“It would be amazing to play for Leeds again but no one from the club has ever contacted me about that.

“People talk about my age and that I’m getting on, and could I continue after Liverpool, but I don’t think I’m typical physically for my age.”

Jose Mourinho not concerned

Jose Mourinho is not worried about Chelsea’s transfer ban being lifted.

“I’m not worried with that,” he said. “First, I’m not looking to the distance from Chelsea.

“Between us and Chelsea [there are] still two or three teams, so we cannot look so high and so far.

“Second – even with the transfer ban lifted, it is not easy to get better players than they have. They have very good players.

“Even with the ban gone and a hypothetical multi-million budget, I’m not sure they can get much better players than they have.”

Man Utd get Erling Haaland boost

Manchester United’s hopes of signing Erling Braut Haaland have been given a huge boost. Bayern Munich have reportedly decided against making a move for the young striker.

Haaland has been linked with a host of teams throughout Europe, as he appears set to leave Red Bull Salzburg.

The 19-year-old has been on fire this season, having scored 15 goals in 13 league games.

Haaland played under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Molde, and therefore it was believed that the striker would favour a move to United so he could reunite with his old boss.

But United will face stiff competition for his signature, with Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester City all believed to be interested.

Real Madrid in talks with Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Arsenal are facing battle to keep hold of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Real Madrid have opened talks with representatives of the Gabon international.

The Spanish giants are ready to offer the Gunners a swap deal involving Luka Jovic.

Transfer expert Duncan Castles has revealed all on the mega swap deal Real Madrid have planned.

He told the Transfer Window podcast: “There’s some information I have that Real Madrid have been looking at whether they can get Aubameyang out of Arsenal and have entered into discussions with his representatives to that effect.

Premier League final table predicted by stats experts – Liverpool title fail, Arsenal doom

Published

Premier League favourites Liverpool are set to miss out on top spot to Brendan Rodgers’ high-flying Leicester. Stats experts have crunched the figures and tipped to Foxes to break the all-time points record to beat the Reds on goal difference.

Jurgen Klopp’s men missed out on title glory by a single point last season and have raced into an eight-point lead at the top after 15 fixtures this term.

Manchester City have slipped behind Leicester with Chelsea making up the top four as is stands, but that is not how the table is set to finish.

The experts have backed Watford to finish bottom with just nine points with Norwich and Southampton joining them in being relegated to the Championship.

Arsenal are set to finish all the way down in 16th with only West Ham separating them from the Saints.

Leicester have been predicted to match that tally, but go on to finish first by scoring 77 goals and only conceding 10, working out as a difference of +67.

Rodgers was asked about the chances of the Foxes winning the Premier League title for a second time before his side’s test against Aston Villa on Saturday, and he refuse to enter the debate.

Rodgers said: “It’s still reasonably early. For us, it’s about our performance level.

Both Chelsea and Leicester are set to lose this weekend if BT Sport’s ‘The Script’ predictions are accurate for match day 16. Liverpool and Manchester City will suffer no such disappointment, with Arsenal failing to win yet again.

Frank Lampard’s Blues take on Everton in the lunch time kick-off on Saturday as they look to build on their 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Wednesday after defeat at home to West Ham the previous weekend.

However, Everton’s caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson is set to get off to a flying start after Marco Silva’s sacking with a 3-2 win at Goodison Park.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool show no signs of slowing down in the Premier League title race having only failed to win one of their outings so far this term, which will continue with a 1-0 win over Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth.

Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham are set to back on track with a 3-1 win over Burnley after their loss at Old Trafford, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won’t have the same luck.

The Gunners themselves have been backed to fail to win a ninth game in a row with a 4-4 derby draw against West Ham on Monday, with Norwich and Watford continuing to flounder.

Norwich are due to draw 1-1 with Sheffield United at Carrow Road with Nigel Pearson’s Hornets only managing a 2-2 draw with Roy Hodgson’s resilient Crystal Palace.

Brendan Rodgers is another boss set to have a tough weekend despite his new contract being agreed in the week, with the Foxes losing 3-1 to Dean Smith’s Villa.
