Jamie O’Hara once got caught pulling a sickie after he was pictured with a pint at Chester races.

The midfielder was at Wolves at the time and decided he wanted a day off.

The 33-year-old told talkSPORT he was rumbled when he was snapped enjoying himself and then faced punishment by the club.

“We’ve all done it. We all do silly things and I’ve done more than my fair share of stupid things,” O’Hara said.

“I wasn’t involved and it was the time when Wolves were trying to get rid of me. I took a day off and phoned in sick.

“Then I got pictured at Chester races with a pint in my hand. That went down like a lead balloon.

“For some reason, at the time I thought I was invisible but I got done and got fined heavily for it so paid the penalty. I got on with it and you learn from your mistakes.”

O’Hara initially joined Wolves on loan from Tottenham in January 2011 before making a permanent move the following summer for around £3.5million.

He fell out of favour under Kenny Jackett and eventually had his contract terminated by mutual consent in 2014.

From there he went on to Blackpool and Fulham and now plays with Billericay Town in the National League South.

He was appointed as manager of Billericay in September.
